Well, the grand merchandising experiment seems to be failing… Why is this? Well, it’s NOT because of you. It’s because Zazzle… Well… Sucks now. When I first started using them, I was SO happy to switch from Café-Press, who’s total suckedness I will not even begin to delve into. When I first started at Zazzle, I was one over by the superiority of their product and for several years I have had no problems. This all changed recently. I have now had three serious problems in the last 3 weeks. It all started when I was told I could not sell Misfile merchandise. If they had simply contacted me and asked if I owned the copyright this would not have been a problem, but no. They cancelled all pending orders and simply stated that I couldn’t sell the merchandise. Since they are IMPOSSIBLE to get a hold of, it took days to even get them to respond to my claim that I IN FACT OWN MISFILE. At which point I was told that if I could validate that claim, my orders would be reinstated. This was a lie, and after assuring them that I owned Misfile, I was told that in fact cancelled orders could NOT be reinstated, and I would have to reorder. This led to problem #2. I begrudgingly reordered my Zazzle products, which were now grossly late given the original order date. Zazzle created the products… And sent me the wrong ones. So, now 2 weeks in, having ordered twice, and having received the wrong products, I went through the grueling process of trying to contact customer service once again. When I finally got in touch with them, they told me they would happily replace the product which they had sent by mistake… AS SOON AS I SHIPPED THE OLD ONE BACK TO THEM AT MY OWN EXPENSE. So, not only had they fucked up… Twice, but now the financial burden to FIX the problem had been put on ME. NOR would they even reprint the poster they’d screwed up until they received the old one back, which means by the time I finally receive it (if ever…) I will have paid for shipping in BOTH directions, and waited well over a month for the product, which THEY FUCKED UP TO BEGIN WITH. That being said, we’ll move on to problem 3. While I was doing all this, Third created a bunch more merchandise. Saturday morning, despite the fact that no one seems to have been at Zazzle to deal with customer service issues, someone wrote us to tell us to let us know that they were erasing half of the new products because they were “too offensive” than what we “Rated” them. You see, Zazzle works on a G, PG (or sometimes PG13, since their site can’t even remain internally consistent), R rating system. Unfortunately, having worked with the MPAA that originated that system, their basis for choosing ratings does NOT adhere to MPAA standards. The problem with this system is, you cannot EVEN SEE non-G-Rated products on their site until you’ve signed up for an account and proved you’re old enough. Effectively this means that you cannot even look at a product and see if you want it before signing up to buy it, and since their rating criteria is so bizarre and arbitrary… I’m not even going to continue. In short, I need a new place to make my merchandise. Here are the criteria:
The companies you suggest cannot be either Café-Press or Zazzle, who both in my opinion absolutely suck.
Must be able to print on demand, as I cannot afford to buy in bulk and stock my own merchandise.
Should preferably print both shirts and posters, though I’m willing to split up my merchandise into different stores if you can find a place that does either without screwing me.
Thanks for your help.
I can only hope that when people search for Zazzle in the future, they find this rant and shy away.
Many thanks to everyone who donated to Misfile in January. For those who’ve requested that I put the amount donated so far in here as well as the nifty flash donation bar below. I’ve received $235 out of the $1000 goal for February. Remember, it’s your donations that keeps Misfile updating 5 times a week rather than 3.
If that’s not enough return on your investment, you can always request a commission:
