It was a very up and down day... Well, when we woke up Monday morning, Third's car had a flat tire. Not the best way to start a day, but I work at home so I figured I could go get it fixed. While I waited at the auto shop, I started in on what has become an auto shop tradition of mine. I began asking the mechanics if they knew anyone locally who could track me down a used XR4Ti. However, this time I heard from the back of the shop “Nice car!”. The shop owner then proceeded to invite me back into his office. I'll show you what's left of mine”. He said. With that he tossed his key chain down on the desk. Sure enough, amidst the keys was the Merkur logo from his old XR4Ti. He had unfortunately sold if a few years back, but it was nice to meet a kindred spirit. His co-worker was also selling a REALLY nice Porsche 944 for $6000 which made me wish I could justify buying another car. So, I got the car back and headed home. I finished up all my art for the day and decided to play a game of Civ 4 – Warlords. I have yet to be able to finish a game, because every time I play with Third, her computer crashes around the 1600's. I figured I'd play when she ws at work and actually get through the game. Fate conspired to thwart me, however. Around, you guessed it, the 1600's, MY system crashed. This was only the beginning. I assumed it was just a normal crash, but it was not. My computer came back up and immediately crashed again. It continued to do this, getting worse and worse as I tried to find the problem, until eventually I couldn't even bring up the CMOS. My system, was completely dead. While I cursed my luck, I was a bit relieved that I had backed up my whole system on Sunday, but I still needed it back up to work. So, from about 2:30 to 8:00, first me, then Third AND me tried to fix it. It took us about $200 and some system frankensteining, but my computer seems to be up and stable for the moment. I just hope it stays that way. As we sat down to relax after all this, our entertainment center crashed. What a day... Commissions are currently OPEN!
